US market is a good proxy for global high yield
While global diversification is often seen as a key advantage in fixed income investing, its benefits are less pronounced in the high yield space. Despite the growth of non-US markets, the global high yield corporate bond universe remains overwhelmingly dominated by US dollar-denominated issuance. With more than 70% of the market in USD and significant overlap in sector and regional exposures, the US high yield market continues to serve as a strong proxy for the global high yield universe—offering investors similar risk characteristics and return potential.
